George Balmaseda

George Balmaseda is an outstanding singer of Salsa. He is widely known as a skilled sonero, his stunning soneos and his powerful voice put dancers in the mood for a great night of Salsa.

George was born in Camaguey, Cuba and immigrated with his parents to the US as a child. He has sung and toured worldwide with many of the greats, including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Oscar de Leon, Cheo Feliciano, Ruben Blades, Tito Nieves, Jose Alberto "El Canario", Ray De La Paz, Ismael Miranda, Camilo Azuquita, and Tony Vega. His voice was featured with Tito Puente's Orchestra in an episode of The Simpsons "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" Most recently, he was cast as the lead Salsa singer in the highly successful movie "Along Came Polly" with Ben Stiller, Jennifer Aniston, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Debra Messing. George's voice has been utilized in many TV and radio commercials and he is also an accomplished songwriter and composer, with songs recorded by such artists as Poncho Sanchez,"El Conguero" Johnny Polanco and Ray de la Paz,"Guaguanco Con Rumba" Opa Opa, "Dejame Mujer" and "Tambo" Mazacote"Oye Me Maria" Dimelo! Con Salsa Vol. 2 "Vanilla Y Chocolate" & "Cha Cha Cha Maria.” He wrote the popular "Tambo" on Susie's Hansen second CD.

He has been the lead singer with Tito Puente's Orchestra, Johnny Polanco y su Cojunto Amistad, La Preferencia, Rene Touzet, L.A. Salsa All Stars, Mr Mazacote, Johnny Martinez y Su Orchestra, Son Mayor, and Gerardo "Rico Suave" and is currently singing with Susie Hansen Latin Band in Los Angeles, CA. George is also the Artist Relations Manager for Tycoon Percussion.
