Jorge Luis Galvan

Jorge Luis Galvan was born in Lima, Peru in 1991. At the age of 2 his family migrated
to the United States where he was raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He discovered
his passion for music at age of 9 where he joined his school chorus. Jorge got his
musical influences from his late grandfather who was a recognized singer in Peru,
Pepe Chira “El Gitano del Bolero”. Jorge found his love for the the percussion at a
very young age when his father bought him his first Cajon. He started with the
Peruvian cajon and Afro-Peruvian genre which he studied and practiced throughout
his childhood years. Jorge later went on throughout the years developing his skills
as a percussionist and formed part of many Peruvian Cultural groups in the
Washington Dc Metropolitan area. During his development he learned to play many
genres which eventually lead to him and his brother forming a band or their own in
2012 “Rumba y Sabor de los Hermanos Galvan” now “HERMANOS GALVAN &
ORQUESTA”. In 2014 he cofounded Afro-Peruvian group JOLGORIO where he would
perform various Afro Peruvian genres alongside his brother and local D.C
percussionists. Jorge has performed and shared stages with salsas biggest names.
Jorge co-produced the band’s first album “La Prima Rumba” (Rumba y sabor de Los
Hermanos Galvan). In the same year Hermanos Galvan y Orquesta collaborated with
Latin Grammy Nominee “Cosa Nuestra de Tito Manrique” Where he recorded
bongos on the single “Tiburon” in Afro-Peruvian genre, Festejo, Paying Homage to
Ruben Blades.
In 2021 he formed part of Peru’s Salsa star Daniela Darcourt’s “ESA SOY YO USA
TOUR” Band, where he performed as her percussionist in numerous U.S cities for
sold out crowds.
Jorge recorded and co-produced his bands second studio album “CON EL MISMO
SABOR” (Found in all digital platforms)
Currently Jorge is recording, co-producing music in his in-home studio and
accompanying artist in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
