Jose Fernando Galvan Chira born in Maryland, USA with native roots from Perú. He began his
musical journey at the age of 6 playing Afro-Peruvian music. José always idolized his late
grandfather Pepe Chira, who sang boleros and valses, and influenced Jose at a very young age
his love of music. While in elementary & middle school, he developed his skills playing the
Cajón (a box-shaped percussion instrument originally from Peru, played by slapping the front
or rear faces) Jose’s introduction to the genre of Latin Music took place when his father bought
him his first set of Congas & Timbales when he was about 11 years old. In 2012, Jose became
co founder & co owner of Orquesta Rumba y Sabor de Los Hermanos Galván with now the
bands name being Hermanos Galvan & Orquesta. Now in 2023, Jose is currently the musical
director, lead singer, percussionist & proudly endorses Soultone Cymbals.
