Nate “Guido” Hughes

Nate “Guido” Hughes is an award-winning percussionist. Born in Nashville, and raised in Buffalo, New York. At the early age of 8 Nate could be found playing around with his father’s various instruments he was particular drawn to the drum set in the family basement practicing endlessly after school every day for months on end. A good friend of his father heard him playing around one afternoon and suggested that he join a local marching band in Buffalo, New York called “Hedge’s Cadets” an Urban Drum and Bugle Corps. At the age of 12, Nate pursued his love of sports and continued playing various instruments at home with his neighborhood friends. Eventually all the basement woodshedding paid off. Nate’s next foray in a band was with “The Cause” a hot local 8-piece band. They played all around town off and on for 3 years. With no foreseeable future, Nate decided to get a 9-5 job and found work with ABC affiliate WKBW TV. For over 3 years Nate job was keeping track of commercial’s airtime for the TV programming day. During that time, his brother Lanise Hughes was experiencing success as the Drummer/Member of Motown Recording Artist Rick James and The Stone City Band. One day, Nate got a call from his brother informing him of a crew opening for the “Mystical Magical Tour” (as assistant soundman/drum roadie) to support Rick’s Platinum selling album “Bustin Out !” The rest is history. With over 30 years of experience in the business. Nate’s musical works can be heard on recording and live performances with artists such as Rick James, The Original Stone City Band, The Temptations, (Standing On The Top), El DeBarge (All This Love), The Roy Young Project, Teena Marie, The Mary Jane Girls, The Bus Boys, Eddie Murphy (Party All The Time Video and Recording), Process & The Doo Rags, “BG” (Life After Cash Money album) Nate has toured the world with New Edition (NE Heart Break Tour) Bobby Brown (King of Stage Tour) plus two additional world tours with Bobby Brown and the list goes on… Nate has also perform live on Nationally Televised shows such as The Grammy Awards, The American Music Awards, Don Cornelius Soul Train, (SNL’s) Saturday Nite Live, Dick Clark’s Rockin New Years Eve Show, The Arsenio Hall Show, The Soul Train Awards, BET Awards Show, Solid Gold, Don Klrshner’s Rock Concert etc, etc. Over the years, Nate has scored Gold/Single Double and Triple Platinum Album Awards. Nate has also won the Golden Reel Award an American Music Award for “Album of The Year” for his work on the Multi Platinum Street Songs album. Nate is currently based in Las Vegas and touring the country with his band mates The Original Stone City Band and The MJG’s formerly The Mary Jane Girls. In his spare time he can be found writing new material and producing new tracks for the band’s first album in 25 years.
